big announcement!!

Hey everyone,

So I've been missing in action for a bit (work is piling up, family is coming down next week, playoffs and GREs). So, on the spur of the moment and finding a willing and eager (and kind) friend, I decided that I'm going to enter my first bodybuilding competition!! Yes, I'm pretty excited about it, and there's tons of work to do..I'll definitely keep you guys posted on my progress. Currently I'm at 138.5lbs, and I need to cut down to 115lbs by November. The good thing is that this competition definitely aligns with my goals in my first post and will definitely get me there, especially getting below 15% body fat. So at the moment I'm eating 6 small meals a day to get my metabolism up, then Monday starts my official training..woohoo..wish me luck :)

So what have I been doing lately? Well, in terms of cardio, I've been doing a lot of HIIT (high intensity interval training) for 30 minutes a day--switching intervals of 4mph and 6mph to get a nice sweat. It's definitely more engaging and much more fun than just running at one speed on a treadmill. Plus it makes the time zip by.

I've also been doing a lot of core workouts to strengthen my stomach/back, and it looks like now it's time to start cutting the fat :) See last post for some of my core workouts.

I've cleaned up my diet a lot; it sucks I have tastebuds and I can't use them, but hey, that's the price I pay for beauty, right? Haha I'm actually already planning on what I'm going to binge on after the competition (so far I have a pizza and a box of cookies :D). Come August I can't cheat anymore and eat very lean :(

The last couple of days I've just been lifting and getting form and technique down, but today I'll get to do some HIIT and some abwork. I'm slowly leaning out, I just have to be dedicated and patient. Will post some before pics to show you guys my flab/softness haha :)
